The entries are split into sections
(within which they are in alphabetical order of christian name regardless of the spellingof the surname):
Scotland, Ireland (which includes Northern Ireland), England,
Other Europe (France, Italy & Spain), Africa, India, Australasia and
North America (incl. Canada), and
Other (which includes some of the foregoing).

The entries are merged where they refer to the same person.
The spelling at IGI is retained except where we know it to be incorrect
(e.g. Indiana instead of India).
