The Genealogy of the Batty Family.

1. Harry Batty. Died in Guernsey after jumping into the sea fully clothed and saving someone from drowning, then failing to change his clothes. Timber merchant in Lancashire. Married in Saddleworth q1 1902 (9a-399) Annie(?) ("Tanny") Hyde. She had an unmarried sister. Tanny was a pillar of the community and an accomplished painter. ELA has a portrait of her in an oval frame. She married second ______ Lees, a milliner in Lancashire.
a. Hilary Louise Batty. Born 15 July 1905. Died 20 April 1998. Married 15 July 1926 John Fred Broadbent and had issue.
b. Molly Batty. Married William ("Bill") Platt.
i. Valerie Platt. Died. Married Alastair McLachlan.
(a) A son. Married.

(c) A son. Married.
ii. Tony Platt. Dvu without issue. He had a garage at Isfield, Sussex. Married first Nora _____ who had an illegitimate son, Michael, by the man she subsequently married. They lived in Ripe. He married second a woman who had a mental problem and who sold the family silver.
iii. Peter Platt. Married Mildred ______ (dvu & sp of cancer c.1968). Address: 19 Riverside, Truro. Tel: 0872 260 329.
c. Gertrude ("G") Batty. Died unmarried. She was an ambulance driver during the blitz and then worked in a munitions factory in Delph. She became a JP. She lived at Grove View, Huddersfield Road, Delph.
